Message inside the pipes is still hotter than the surrounding ambient air in the engine bay. That being the case having insulated pipes would only trap heat rather than let it escape. If I'm not mistaken Damon measured these temperatures when experimenting with water injection a couple years ago and found the intake air (inside) was hotter than the outside.
